Tanya Hasman is the executive director of Solstice at Palatine. She first came to Solstice in 2018 as the Business Office director. Tanya enjoys connecting with residents on a daily basis and loves to take part in the many vibrant events and activities in the community. The best part of her job is being able to bring her residents and staff together.
She grew up in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, and has been working in various aspects of health care since 2003. She is fluent in three languages and enjoys reading, learning about different cultures and history. At home, she loves spending time with her three children, husband and the rest of her family.
Director of Sales and Marketing
Alexis Pozdol is the director of Sales and Marketing for Solstice at Palatine. Prior to joining Solstice, Alexis served a similar role in an assisted living and memory care community. Alexis has great enthusiasm and passion for seniors and strives to make the lives of seniors the best they can be. She is a trusted resource and is knowledgeable in the multifaceted aspects of senior living. Alexis guides seniors and families of seniors with compassion as they navigate their senior living options.
Alexis enjoys an active lifestyle surrounded by family and friends. Besides loving people, Alexis also enjoys playing and spending time with her two dogs. Because Alexis herself has overcome many obstacles in life, she is the ideal person to assist seniors in making positive life changes.
Mazlina Husin George
Senior Business Office Director
Mazlina joined Solstice at Palatine in 2017. Besides her normal daily operations and duties, she also assists and supports other Integral- and Solstice-managed communities, as well as mentoring multiple new Business Office directors in the company. She held the same position at a former ISL community in Grayslake.
She holds two master’s degrees, in both science and education. She earned her first master’s in statistics and measurement from University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and her second master’s in TESL from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in education from her home country, Malaysia.
Prior to joining the senior living industry, she was an assistant director of Academic Testing with the Ministry of Education in Malaysia.
Mazlina has a 24-year-old daughter, Raja Alisa, and two cat sons, Benji and Charlie. She and her husband, Chris, love to visit the forest preserve any chance they get.
Culinary Services Director
Bob Baiz brings more than two decades of culinary and hospitality experience to the Culinary Services director role. Before joining the Solstice at Palatine team, Bob worked in restaurants all over the country, including in New Orleans, Los Angeles and New Jersey, and has recently served as the sous chef at Stoney River Steakhouse in Deer Park, Ill. He is also a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu in Chicago.
In his free time, Chef Bob enjoys gardening, entertaining and spending time with his husband. He is looking forward to consistently enhancing Solstice residents’ lives with delicious, healthy meals in a pleasant environment.
Vibrant Life® Director
Mia Sanders is the Vibrant Life® director for Solstice Senior Living at Palatine. She has worked in the senior care sector for five years and brings passion and years of experience in art, education and nonprofits, which enable her to provide person-centered care and help residents achieve their wants, needs, hopes and dreams.
Known by residents as “Sunny, the cruise director,” Mia dives into each activity with infectious enthusiasm and the ability to inspire others to seek out the beauty and inspiration of everyday life.
In her free time, Mia enjoys kicking up her heels to blues and fusion dance, walking in one of her favorite forest preserves, recreating favorite childhood meals, collecting books, and spending time with her beloved cat, Gremlin.
Building Services Director
John Pendola grew up on the northwest side of Chicago. He attended Northeastern University, where he studied business, and Washburne Trade School where he developed skills in carpentry, drywall, electrical, flooring, HVAC, painting, plumbing, tiling and more. John has experience working with various construction companies and senior living communities.
His hobbies include enjoying Chicago sports, watching the auto racing Indy car series, helping out at his church, assisting with Habitat for Humanity projects, volunteering for Save a Pet, as well as participating in several weekend warrior projects with his friends.
Building Services Director
Elias Flores is the Building Services director for Solstice Senior Living at Palatine. Elias joined the team 13 years ago when he was still in high school. He started as a dishwasher/prep cook on the weekends, and then moved into housekeeping and serving full time. He helped anywhere he was needed, including driving the bus, moving and maintenance. He slowly started learning about maintenance and, in time, was promoted as a head housekeeper for nine years. Elias really liked doing maintenance and helping in maintenance as much as he could. He decided to take a chance when there was an opening for Building Services director.
